THE TRINITY
Regarding God, is there a trinity? That is, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit? Or is there only one person as God, and the others, the Son and the Spirit, are just part of God? Let's see:
Because the word “trinity” doesn't exist in the Bible, some people use this as an argument to defend the thesis that it doesn't exist. Also, because of Jesus' expression to Philip, one of his apostles, that he and the Father were one, this serves as support for some to sustain the thesis that both Jesus and God are one person. Let's look at the Bible itself to see if this is the case.
Orthodox Jews, or adherents of Judaism, who claim to have the orthodox (correct) doctrine about God and religion, cling to the following biblical quotation:
“But now thus says the Lord who created you, O Jacob, and who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; when you pass through the rivers, they shall not overflow you; when you pass through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame burn within you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt for your ransom, and Ethiopia and Sheba for you. Because you were precious in my sight, worthy of honor, and I loved you, I will give men for you and peoples for your life. Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east and gather them from the west. I will give to the North: deliver!
