1) What does Sabbath mean?
Rest. Lev. 23:3 and 32.
2) What does God call His rest?
My Sabbaths. Ezek. 20:12; Sabbath of the Lord. Lev. 26:2; Ex. 16:25, 20:10; Holy Day of the Lord. Is. 58:13.
3) What did God call the solemn days on which there was rest, and which were part of the ceremonial law?
Sabbaths. Lev. 23:3. Your Sabbaths. Lev. 23:32. Your Sabbaths. Hos. 2:11.
4) Who gave the Sabbath to man?
Jesus. Ex. 20:1
5) How do we know this?
Jesus said: “For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” Luke 6:5.
6) If Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, then what is the Lord's day?
The Sabbath.
7) On what day was John raptured and had the vision of the Apocalypse?
On the Lord's day. Rev. 1:10.
8) What sign did God institute between himself and his people?
The sanctification of the Sabbath. Ezekiel 20:20.
9) What does He require for us to be His servants?
That we keep the Sabbath day holy. Ezekiel 20:20 and Isaiah 56:6.
10) When God made the heavens and the earth, on what day did He rest?
On the Sabbath. Gen. 2:2.
11) Why did God rest?
God did not make man for the Sabbath, but the Sabbath for man. So He rested for our example.
12) What day has God blessed since the foundation of the universe?
The Sabbath day. Gen. 2:3.
13) To which commandment does keeping the Sabbath correspond?
The fourth commandment of God's Law. Ex. 20:8.
14) How should we keep this day?
Not speaking our words, nor pretending to do our will. Is. 58:13. Doing no servile work in it. Ex. 20:8 to 11.
15) What should we call it?
Delightful; holy day of the Lord; worthy of honor. Is. 58:13.
16) What does God call Sabbath-breaking?
Profanation. Is. 56:2 and 6.
17) What promise has God made to those who keep from profaning the Sabbath?
“I will also give them a place in my house and within my walls, and a name better than that of sons and daughters; an everlasting name I will give to each of them that will never be cut off.” Is. 56:5.
18) What other promise does God have for Sabbath keepers, including the children of foreigners?
“I will also bring them to my holy mountain, and I will make a feast for them in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted on my altar.” Isaiah 56:7.
19) Which days can we do service work?
On the six days of the week between the Sabbaths. Ex. 20:9.
20) What work did Jesus do on Saturdays?
Work related to his ministry. Mk. 3:3 and 4; Mt. 12:9-12; Lk. 6:6-11.
21) What did the apostle Paul say about the time we should work?
“Work day and night so as not to be a burden to your brothers. I Thess. 2:9.
22) What is the work of which the apostle spoke?
The one of which Jesus said: “Work not for the bread that perishes, but for that which remains. Jn 6:27.
23) When does the Sabbath begin and when does it end?
It begins at sunset on the sixth day, and ends at sunset on the Sabbath. Neh. 13:19; Lev. 23:31 and 32.
24) What work should we not do on this day?
Menial work. Ex. 20:9; buying, Neh. 10:31, 13:16-17; selling, Am. 8:5 and 6.
25) How do we know not to cook on this day?
You shall kindle no fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day. Ex. 35:3.
26) Which Sabbath did God say he no longer liked the meetings of the congregations?
The Sabbaths of feasts. Is. 1:13 and 14.
27) On which Sabbath did the disciples gather ears of corn to eat, which is why the Pharisees reproached Jesus?
On the Jewish Sabbath, the feast day. Luke 6:1.
28) How do we know that the Sabbath on which Jesus ordered a man to take his bed was a festival Sabbath?
Because the biblical passage that recounts the episode begins by saying: “After this there was a feast among the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.” Jn 5:1.
29) How many Sabbaths were there in each Jewish festival?
Two solemn Sabbaths, in addition to the Sabbath of the Lord. Lev. 23:7, 8, 21, 25, 27, 28, 30, 31, 35, 36 and 39.
30) What other Sabbaths were instituted by the Lord, and which are called Sabbaths by Him?
The annual Sabbath, which was kept every seventh year, and on which neither sowing nor reaping was done. Lev. 25:1-7; and the sabbath of jubilee, the fiftieth year. Lev. 25:8-13.
31) At what time did the land rest two Sabbaths in a row?
The jubilee. It rested the seventh weekly year and the eighth year, which was the fiftieth. Lev. 25:1-5 and 10-13, 21 and 22.
32) What was the name of the day after the Passover for the people of Israel?

33) On what day was Jesus resurrected?
On the Sabbath. Mt. 28:1.
34) How do we know this?
“And at the end of the Sabbath, when the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb; and behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and took away the stone, and sat on it. ... But the angel answered and said to the women, “He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” Mt 28:1-3, 5 and 6.
35) And when does one day dawn?
At sunset of the other, of the previous one. Neh. 13:19.
36) With regard to the Sabbath, the seventh day, what invitation does the Holy Spirit give the missivist to the Hebrews?
“Let us fear lest, having left the promise of entering his rest, any of you should seem to have failed. Let us therefore seek to enter that rest, so that no one may fall into the same example of disobedience.” Heb. 4:1 and 11.
37) What day is the writer talking about in Hebrews chapter four?
The seventh day, which corresponds to the Sabbath, the day of rest. Heb. 4:4; Ex. 20:10.
38) What day did God establish as a perpetual covenant for his people?
The Sabbath day. Exodus 31:16.
39) How do we know that it is also for us, once Gentiles?
God disapproves of the law being a respecter of persons. Mal. 2:9.
“For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is he a circumcision who is one outwardly in the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that which is of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God. Who are we, whom he also called, not only from among the Jews, but also from among the Gentiles?” Romans 2:29; 9:24.
40) What denunciation does God make through the prophet Ezekiel?
That the priests hide their eyes from the Sabbath of the Lord and profane the Lord in their midst. Ezekiel 22:26.
